Desmond Tan

Most recently, Dr. Tan completed a surgical residency at the prestigious Animal Medical Center in New York City and is excited to join the team at Sirius Orthopedic Veterinary Center.

Dr. Tan enjoys all aspects of orthopedics and sports medicine, striving to match each patient’s treatment to their specific needs. He believes in utilizing new technology to achieve the best results in his patients. He was instrumental in expanding the Animal Medical Center’s minimally invasive orthopedic surgery department and helped manage one of the largest and most successful joint replacement programs in the northeast.

Dr. Tan is active in research, publishing the only study on traumatic fractures of the medial coronoid process in sporting dogs to date. He was also the lead author for another landmark publication describing a new technique for treatment of esophageal strictures, which is now considered standard of care in both dogs and cats.

When out of the ofce, Dr. Tan is most likely to be found seeking out culinary adventures. He also enjoys traveling and outdoor activities with his dog Alfred.
